An obelisk commemorates the plan for the redesigned city of Detroit after the disastrous fire of 1805. Judge Augustus Woodward devised a plan that called for "grand circuses" approximately 4000 feet apart. These circuses would be linked by great, broad avenues. Woodward's plan, which drew on L'Enfant's design for Washington DC, was resisted by property owners and was only partially implemented. Grand Circus Park is a semicircular fragment of the plan that was actually realized.

Again which represents the ancient Egyptian ancient belief systems.

To go into the core of Detroit once you pass Circus Park and these two obelisk which are representation of the Egyptian ideologies and worship.

This is a copy of Augustus Woodward's original plan for Detroit, and most of its streets survive in the city center today. To get the full, strange flavor of Woodward's concept, though, imagine Detroit if the plan had been allowed to expand naturally, as intended.

The circle at the top with the compass rose is today Grand Circus Park (only a semicircle survived later developers, but it became the heart of the city's theatre and hotel district after 1900). Similar circles can be seen in the lower left and lower right corners. These too were meant to be circular parks, each the center of a hexagonal, cellular unit. Twelve streets would radiate from each. Within the cells, triangular blocks formed the basic unit; space was reserved within these for schools and other public buildings, as shown on the plan.

‘Transcending monument’

The ‘Transcending’ gateway is surely the focal point of Hart Plaza! Transcending is a five-story stainless steel open ring, surrounded by fourteen, six-foot granite boulders with bronze reliefs.

The sculpture was a gift to the people of Detroit on it’s 300th birthday.

What I believe to be a Stargate hence a portal for dark spirits!

Are the statues collectively from the naked woman to the man to the portal....

The ‘PYLON’

Gracing the en-trance to Hart Plaza is Isamu Noguchi’s ‘Pylon’. The Pylon stands 120 feet tall with a width of 7 feet, it strongly resembles an Egyptian obelisk, except this sculpture appears to make a quarter turn between the bottom and top.

This symbolism could easily be interpreted as a DNA helix, or even the stairway to heaven.

The Pylon was commissioned to sculptor Isamu Noguchi as a companion piece to his previous Dodge Fountain. In ancient Egypt Pylons marked the entrances to Egyptian temples.

The Dodge Fountain seemingly sits in relation to the middle pyramid in Giza. The fountain is dedicated to Horace Dodge (Horus?)who just happened to be born in Niles Michigan. No Joke.
