BIBLE PROPHECIES

10 prophecies predicted in the Bible & fulfilled in history

God throughout the Bible spoke through his prophets to prove he was the only god.  He always foretold the future through them to verify who he was, to prove to the people that those who spoke were true prophets, and to draw mankind to worship him only.  The 100% accuracy of the hundreds (possibly thousands) of prophecies in the Bible that came true are proof Yahweh is the God of truth.  Not even Nostradamus can match this record!   Here are ten of those prophecies and the years they were fulfilled:

  1. Predicted ca. 855 BC: The prophet Elijah predicts Jezebel would be eaten by dogs upon her death in Jezreel. (1 Kings 21:23)–Fulfilled ca. 841 BC: Jezebel is killed in Jezreel and dogs eat her body (2 Kings 9:36).
  2. Predicted ca. 760 BC: Amos predicts Israel would be restored as a nation and would never be uprooted again (Amos 9:15)–Fulfilled in 1948.
  3. Predicted ca 732 BC: Isaiah predicts the Medo-Persian empire will conquer Babylon [Isaiah 13:17-18] and Babylon would become a wasteland.–Fulfilled in 538 BC when the Medes took over Babylon  and 275 BC when the Seleucids forced all of the inhabitants to leave.
  4. Predicted ca. 732 BC: Isaiah says Egypt and Ethiopia would be conquered by Assyria (Isaiah 20:3-5).–Fulfilled ca. 673-670 BCwhen Assyria conquers the northeast African nations.
  5. Predicted ca. 701 BC:  Isaiah claims Israel will be taken captive by the Babylonian empire (Isaiah 39).–Fulfilled ca. 597 & 586 BC: Babylon takes captives and sacks Jerusalem the first time then totally destroys Jerusalem about 10 years later.
  6. Predicted ca. 589 BC:  Ezekiel tells about the destruction of the great city Tyre (Ezekiel 27).–Fulfilled in 1291: Muslims destroy the city.
  7. Predicted ca. 543 BC: Daniel tells of a great Grecian king who would conquer the Persian empire but would have his kingdom divided four ways after his death (Daniel 8).–Fulfilled in 330 BCwhen Alexander the Great defeats Persia and 281 BC after the Greek generals who succeed Alexander reach an agreement after years of war to split the kingdom four ways.
  8. Predicted ca. 536 BC:  Daniel prophesies that the Greek empire would not go to Alexander the Great’s heirs (Daniel 11).–Fulfilled ca. 323-281 BC after Alexander’s death when his generals fight over the kingdom while shutting out (and killing) his heirs.
  9. Predicted ca. 430 BC: Malachi prophesies that Yahweh’s name would be honored by the Gentiles (pagans) (Malachi 1:11).–Fulfilled 1st century AD to the present:  Pagans worldwide have forsaken their paganism and have confessed that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
  10. Predicted ca. 30 AD:  Jesus tells his disciples that they will be persecuted and hated by the majority of the people on the earth because they follow him (Matthew 24:9).–Fulfilled 1st century AD to the present:  Ever since the gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached, millions of true Christians worldwide have been mistreated or killed for the faith.

“I am God, and there is none like me.  Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isaiah 46:10-11).

Over 300 Prophecies Jesus Fulfilled - "Yeshua". Jewish Messiah ... <

Forgiven

Messianic Prophecy: What Is It?
Messianic prophecy is the collection of over 100 predictions (a conservative estimate) in the Old Testament about the future Messiah of the Jewish people. These predictions were written by multiple authors, in numerous books, over approximately 1,000 years. Messianic Prophecy is so dramatic today, because with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrollsand the reliability of the Septuagint version of the Old Testament (both of which have been proven to exist prior to the time Jesus walked on the earth) you can be assured that these prophecies were not “conspired” after-the-fact.

Messianic Prophecy: Fulfillment by Jesus Christ
Messianic prophecy was fulfilled by the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Although many Jews did not accept Jesus as their Messiah, many did, and they became the Jewish sect later known as the Christians. Christianity, based in dramatic part on the fulfillment of historical prophecy, spread rapidly throughout the Roman Empire of the 1st Century. Examine the prophecies yourself, and calculate the probability of one man fulfilling just a handful of the most specific ones, and you’ll be amazed.

“Jesus said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’” Luke 24:44 (NIV)

The Old Testament verses are the prophecy; the New Testament verses proclaim the fulfillment. Check them all out for yourself!

Messianic Prophecy - What Are The Odds of Fulfillment Without God?
Messianic Prophecy is so powerful because of the statistical odds that one man would fulfill every single one of them. If we just analyze seven of the more specific prophecies in the Old Testament, that were later fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ, we are stunned by the statistical impossibility of such an historical reality. As an illustration, we have inserted some conservative "odds" alongside seven established prophecies. Please feel free to propose your own prophecies and your own odds - the dramatic point will still be made!

Messianic Prophecy

Messianic Prophecy - The Challenge
Messianic prophecy is phenomenal evidence that sets the Bible apart from the other "holy books." We strongly encourage you to read the Old Testament prophecies and the New Testament fulfillments on the previous page. Better yet, get a Jewish Tanakh (the Hebrew scripture read in the Jewish synagogues) and read the Messianic prophecies from there. It is dramatic, eye-opening and potentially life-changing!

Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled by
Jesus Christ

John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

John 1:41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

From the time of the Old Testament, Israel was looking for her Messiah, and when he came those that were ready found him. All of the early church was Jewish. It was at the conversion of Cornelius (a Gentile) in the book of Acts that the Jews understood that our God is no respecter of persons and has opened the doors of eternal life to the Gentile as well.

The Bible teaches that all the prophets give witness of Jesus Christ (ref. Acts 10:43). The following Messianic prophesies were made hundreds, sometimes thousands, of years before the Lord Jesus Christ was born. Jesus Christ is the only person who has ever walked this earth that has fulfilled these prophesies. Looking for anyone else to fulfill these prophecies is an exercise in futility--a dangerous one because if you die in this deception, you will have no opportunity for recovery. Jesus Christ is the Messiah of Israel and he is the Son of David. His geneaology can be found in Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke chapter 3:23-38. [You can find an online Authorized Bible (as well as free Bible downloads and an overview of the Bible) here.]

Although the "rabbis" (see Matt 23:8) have strenuously tried for centuries to stop their own people from loving their Messiah, some Jewish people are still getting saved and safe. Unfortunately, many "Messianic" Jewish congregations have sprouted up teaching a confusing mixture of Judaism, dispensationalism, and the gospel. This is not good. In fact, it is horrible. Christ came to make Jew and Gentile one in his word. There is a great heresy that has gained much strength all over the world--that Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians are to remain forever separate. This heresy says that Israel is separate from the church. This is a very great heresy easily refuted by application of the scriptures.

I have long desired the opportunity to be able to worship with my Jewish brothers and sisters, the children of Abraham, in the truth. That lump is holy (Romans 11) . God has not cast away his people which he foreknew, they will be saved--but only under gospel terms. They will believe in their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, and will stop denying him.

Billy Graham led the pack of wolves that teach that Jews do not need to be converted to Jesus--as if the Jews or anybody else could make it into the kingdom of God without forgiveness and without the blood of Jesus. And not only that, but as if the Jews could actually deny the Holy One of Israel, their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, and make it into God's heaven. Ignore false prophets and teachers like Billy Graham and set your eyes on the words of the scriptures. In Deuteronomy 18, Moses told Israel that God was going to raise up a Prophet from amongst them and that Israel was to listen to him. That Prophet is Jesus. The Old Testament Messianic prophecies about Jesus Christ abound, but Billy Graham and the other false prophets say that the Jews can be saved without hearkening to their own prophets. Do not listen to that pack of wolves. Listen to the scriptures. The Jewish people need the blood of Jesus just like us Gentiles. That great prophet and high priest of our profession, the Son of David and Messiah of Israel said--

John 14:6 ...I am the way, the truth, and the life: NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER, BUT BY ME.

There is only one way to come to God and that is through his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jewish people need to be saved. They are not saved just because they are Jewish. One Jewish man told me that he should be okay before God because he was Jewish. He was wrong.

Matthew 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Being Jewish is not enough.

Judaism

Rabbis today may claim that they are followers of Moses. But is this true? In the books of Moses, God required the blood of select beasts to atone for sin. Without blood, there is no atonement.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

What have the rabbis been doing for the souls of the Jewish people for almost 2000 years? One thing is for sure--they have not been making atonement for their souls. The rabbis have not been shedding blood for the souls of their people. God's prescription for atonement was not good advice, prayers, Hebrew school, and a kind look on your face. It was blood shed in a prescribed manner by presecribed persons as outlined in the books of Moses. This has not happened. The Jewish temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD--not long after the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. And with the destruction of the temple, there was an end of the sacrificial system of Moses. Israel was forced to stop shedding blood.

Here's why--

After the great work accomplished on the cross of Calvary by the Lord Jesus Christ, the blood of bulls and goats was no longer needed nor accepted by God. Now God only accepts the blood of Jesus that was shed on Calvary's cross. That is why the rabbis have no temple and no blood. God is pleased with the blood of Jesus and that is it. The sacrifice that satisfied him and pleased him was accomplished and he had the temple razed via a man named Titus just like he had that first temple burned down by Nebuchadnezzar. Now it was time for the people to believe on, worship and love and serve his risen Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Messiah, the King of Israel.

The blood of bulls and goats could never take away sins (Heb 10:11)--that inefficacy is why the Levitical priesthood had to keep on offering them over and over again. When the Son of God, however, was offered, it was a one time act. Before he died, the Lord Jesus Christ said, "It is finished." Three days later he rose from the dead as it was not possible that he should be holden by death (Acts 2:24). He arose and is now seated on the right hand of God and ever liveth to make intercession for his people.

God gave Israel the blood of Jesus. That is why the temple was destroyed in 70 AD never to rise up again. It was unnecessary because that system of animal sacrifice had come to an end. The slaying of those Old Testament beasts was a picture of the great work that the Lord Jesus Christ would accomplish on Calvary when he shed his blood for the sins of the world.

But what have the rabbis and elders been doing all these years? Instead of pointing the way to the Messiah, the rabbis have used all of their power to keep their own people from loving Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Son of David, the Messiah, who was slain for the sins of the world. They have zealously followed the same policy of hinderance that the Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, scribes, and lawyers followed--

Luke 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

God rebuked the rulers of Jerusalem in Isaiah 28:14-19 and prophesied of that precious corner stone that was going to come to the earth and take over. For those that do not know, that cornerstone is none other than our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ--

Isaiah 28:14-19 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: [they have rejected our Lord and infected a multitude of others with their blasphemies] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste [won't be afraid]. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

Today's rabbis offer no blood for the nation of Israel. Judaism is clearly not the religion of Moses, it is something else--it is essentially the tradition of the elders that the Lord Jesus Christ condemned . today this horrible made up man-made tradition is found written form in the blasphemous Talmud and Misnah. I do not advise anyone to read what these documents say about our precious Lord Jesus Christ even though we have at least one report about this on this website written by a Jewish brother. In speaking to the Jewish religious leaders, our Lord said this--

Mark 7:6 ...Well hath Esaias [Isaiah] prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mark 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men
Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition
Mark 7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
Mark 7:11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
Mark 7:12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

The rabbis have rejected our precious Lord Jesus Christ, just like the Hebrew scriptures said they would, but we (saved people--Jew and Gentile) praise him and are glad:

Psalms 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Psalms 118:23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
Psalms 118:26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
Psalms 118:27 God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
Psalms 118:28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. Psalms 118:29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

The New Covenant

In times past, God spoke unto the fathers by the prophets--like Moses--but in these last days he has spoken unto us by his Son.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

In Deuteronomy 18:15-16, Moses told Israel that God was going to raise up a Prophet from amongst their brethren that would be like himself a mediator between the people and God. The prophesy is then repeated from God's perspective in verses 17-19 accompanied by a warning--

Deuteronomy 18:17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Deuteronomy 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

The Lord Jesus Christ did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, he came to fulfill what was written. He is that great Prophet.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The Lord Jesus Christ ushered in the new covenant spoken of by Jeremiah the prophet in Jeremiah 31:31-34--

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a NEW covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Jeremiah 31:32 NOT according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

If that first covenant with Moses had been faultless, then there would be no need for the new covenant that Jeremiah spoke of (ref. Heb 8:7). When God spoke of a new covenant, he made the first one old--

Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Jesus Christ is the mediator of that new, better, everlasting covenant established upon better promises.

Hebrews 12:24 ...Jesus the mediator of the new covenant...

Hebrews 8:6 ...he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Hebrews 13:20 ...our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant...

As you examine the scriptures on this page, see what the prophets themselves had to say about the man from Nazareth, the Lord Jesus Christ. Read Isaiah 53 which clearly reveals Jesus Christ as our sin bearer. This is irrefutable. The Lord Jesus Christ was wounded for OUR transgressions. He was bruised for OUR iniquities. The chastisement of OUR peace was upon him; and with HIS stripes we are HEALED and ready for God's heaven. Hallelujah for the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world.
